The Japan Foundation are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Ronald P. Dore.

Ronald was selected as one of the Dulwich Boys, 6^th form students given a scholarship to learn Japanese at SOAS as a result of World War II. After he returned from Japan, Ronald went on to teach at SOAS, eventually holding posts in a variety of universities across the globe. His works on Japanese business were vital in strengthening relations between Japan and the UK, and in recognition for his achievements, he was awarded the Japan Foundation Prize in 1977.
