Assistant Programme Officer – Position Vacant | The Japan Foundation London


Salary: £22K to £24K depending on experience and qualifications


The Japan Foundation is Japan’s principal agent for cultural relations between Japan and other countries.


The Japan Foundation London is seeking to appoint an Assistant Programme Officer to carry out the general administration of its work in the area of Japanese language education.


This is a full-time, permanent position, based at our office in central London. Applicants must already be eligible to work in the UK.


Working for the Deputy Director and Assistant Director, the post holder will manage smooth running of events and courses aimed at those teaching Japanese in the UK. Further responsibilities include a variety of administrative tasks such as maintaining our databases and dealing with enquiries. Other duties will include proof reading documents in English, liaising as appropriate with other UK based organisations, and acting as a resource for fellow Japanese staff on all matters relating to the UK, including assisting with all general office maintenance arrangements.


The successful appointee will be qualified to at least first-degree level. Proven administrative skills, the ability to work effectively as a team player and excellent IT skills are all essential requirements. The appointee must have excellent written and spoken communication skills in English (native speaker level or equivalent). Japanese language ability to at least N2 (former level 2) of the JLPT would be advantageous.
